Everythings withered For no additional gain Long cold nights ahead
letting the day gain purchase on my attention as dreams slink away
Only my inner thoughts to watch As I swaddle into an evening swatch Although I may be bone dead tired Dawns on withering conscious frame With nothing to lose and all to gain Additional input may be required
A frog on a log Obsessed on a midair fly Ribbit Ribbit (slurp)

That first verse reminded me of workers’ comp. **no need to stay home and collect work comp pay. come into work where we have plenty of light duty for you**
Indeed. Decades ago an ancient workman’s comp insurance / counselor told me, “If we put “them” on comp pay “they” will never go back to work. Some things never change.
I was a WC claims adjuster for 25 years. We always said the same thing–they stay home on comp pay, watch all the attorney TV commercials, get an attorney and never go back to work. Some of those cases were a shame, too, but once they had counsel, I could no longer talk directly to them.
