🎼 Pardon me boy🎵
🎼 Is that the Catenary Choo Choo🎶
Where does the U come in?
Why they bought a round trip tickets of course. When they get there they do a U turn and come back.

Taking what life throws at me one pitch at a time
Growing up in a household where the adults where born respectively in 1881, 1906, and 1916; this was not only high comedy but a self help recording. So stop whining, here’s some Merthiolate to put on your boo boo, and go back out to play. Don’t come back until the street lamps go on. The only onerous was on me.

So I wrote a haiku this morning to a Bluesky #vss365 prompt of #yearn as I am wont to do daily.
It went like this:
It always seems that
No matter how hard I #yearn
Affection is spurned
A comment made on that post brought to mind this song by Loudon Wainwright, III
“Unrequited To The Nth Degree”
Oh, when I die and it won’t be long
Hey, you’re gonna be sorry that you treated me wrong
Yeah, you’re gonna be sorry that you treated me bad
Hey, and if there’s an after life I’ll gloat and I’ll be glad
Might be a plane crash, or some sort of OD
Hey, there’s going to be a photograph with my obituary
You’re gonna see it and you’ll cry
You’re gonna wanna wear black
Hey, I’ll be dead but you can bet your life, I’m gonna get you back
I’m tired of being left up on your shelf
I might not wait around, might kill myself
Not only would you miss me, but you’d feel guilty to
Oh, I’d be dead but it’d be too late the joke would be on you
Ha ha ha ha, ho ho ho ho
Chuckle chuckle chuckle chuckle
Snigger snigger snigger snigger
Guffaw guffaw guffaw
Yuk yuk yuk yuk
Ha ha ha ha…
So you better take warning, start treating me good
Start doing the things that I think you should
And you better not pout and no you better not cry
The grim reaper is a-comin’ to town and I just might die
This song reinforces many things for me.
From irrational exuberance to unreasonable expectations.
From pining for personages out of my league, while not noticing those that would have been a better fit.
Personal life
Professional life
Business life
Financial life
Spiritual life
This song also affirms my observations on codependency:
When I die your life will pass before my eyes.
🛩Meanwhile, Keep Em Flying 🛩

Liked the movie
The book was better
Apples to oranges
Graded on a curve
Melons to the rind
Things of a kind
Birds of a feather
Judgemental find
Original or cover
Anticipations hover
Spending time
In decisive grind
Neither is heeded
Some things are fine
No rating needed
From me or you
On most things
Thumb has retired
No up
No down
No exposition required
Let things of a kind
Be of their kind
From medieval power drinking
To Days of Wine and Roses
Bacchanals
Then Leaving Las Vegas
Now we all stay hydrated
Twenty four seven
With personal bottles of
Cool Cool Water
Water
Meanwhile in saloons it's
Guzzle Guzzle Guzzle
As they shove it down their muzzle
These are the words we like to hear
MORE BEER!
Maintenance drinking
Binge drinking
Drinking with intent
Or drinking in place
Temperance to tolerance
The bar bill for the signers
Of the Declaration of Independence
Was ginormous
Cruisin' & Boozin'
Through history it's clear
Spirits were everywhere
Even where they shouldn't be
Then there was my girl
🎶
I'm called Little Dilettante
Dear Digital Dilettante
Though I could never tell why
But still I'm so dilatory
In social media purgatory
Stream of consciousness blogger am I
I've haikus for Mondays
And tankas for Tuesdays
From prompts kind people provide
I post them in mornings
To shake up my wake up
Then on with my daily survive
🎶
Making the world dirtier, meaner, and less safe
With every moment he soils that once prestigious office
Meanwhile
I couldn’t resist posting one of my favorite tunes for this prompt

Tone deaf
No rhythm
Left footed
Stumble bum
Dilettante
Hey That's Me !
In spite of all that, music has played an important part throughout my life.
Sure it was a church choir, garage band guitarist, high school, college, community productions. Musical theater singer, dancer, and actor in front of big and small crowds alike. I even got paid for a summer acting gig once. Not musical, but since I’m bragging. . .
What I did get paid for and quite well thank you was as a film, video, and digital editor. There I orchestrated numerous medlies of picture, voice, music, and sound effects many times over many years. If there is no music in the way the pictures flow before the eye and the dialog plays to the ear then it’s back to the cutting room.
See Ma, I didn’t waste my entire youth on trivial pursuits.
It also has taught me my most important skill.
I listen
I just love this performance and song 😍
