Life Is Just A

some secrets should be
kept because one third will not
give a darn, one third
can never keep things secret,
one third won't understand it.

The law of thirds in life, art, and demographics.

RDP SATURDAY: SECRET

Nothing But Blue Sky Redux I

Ambivalent or
#Lackadaisical maybe
Just plain lazybones

Random German dude loitering on a staircase: “Wie geht’s dir?”

Me: “The gates are okay but the hinges are rusty.

While it seems the past years
Have been taken by the boom
Of a loud fat buzzing #Mosquito
In the room

Thank glorious insectile overlords
For the power, wisdom, and pique
To mute endless media harangue of
Blather and Squeak

 A #yakamoz
lycanthrope
May be good looking
But in reality is but a
Sneaking slinking skulking
Weak sad sack reflection
Of a full furred howling
Drooling biting snarling
Genuine issue werewolf

You liked the big lie?
Well step right up for this year's
extra #jumbo lie.

This person
Up
On a platform
Preening
Like a bloated budgie
In front of a mirror
Not #cute
Not #gigil
Just #sad

What's that trickling down?
#Sugar coat it all you wish.
It still amounts to
thinly glazed aerated pure
weasel sputum on a stick

Low expectations
Have kept me #flexible now
In spite of myself
I can bend backward while I'm
Looking at me in the void

From towering white pines to unusual beach species. Predacious bog plants to native prairie grasses. The plant diversity was outstanding in front of our dune home. Diverse terrain wiped out for a sloping lawn to serve the spouse aesthetic. My biggest regret.

Was it finding myself floating in a roomful of white mist looking down at myself sitting at a computer?

More likely, that was an end.

Did it when a foot, a bus, and the front bumper of a 1971 Checker taxicab tried to occupy the same space at the same time?

That began something.

Things I learned from working with advertising people for decades:

  • Never show fear. Clients can smell fear.
  • Art bows to commerce
  • Never act surprised when something you thought would never work works.
  • Always blame who isn’t in the room.

But most important of all…

  • Where there’s confusion there’s money to be made

RDP SATURDAY: TRIANGLE
Sure they can be acute
Others are quite obtuse
Some may not fit just right
They learn by being isosceles
When all things are equilateral
More often tend towards scalene
But the most pleasant polygon of all
Happened long ago in the fall
Was that satisfying office triangle
With a very intense body entangle

Precarious Lips

Life lived on the lips
Of a precipice
With the knowledge
A landslide of doom
Is but a foot slip
Away
Watch your step

Existential Shivers

To deem something incomparable. Doesn’t that imply that you tried comparing it but failed. So clearly an attempt was made to compare it.  That’s downright incomprehensible. Comprehending the process of a comparison of a thing that’s incomparable just gives me the existential shivers.

Obfuscation soaked
bone deep in free speech lucre.
Bread and Circuses

Very happy Wednesday and the Ragtag Daily Prompt is incomparable. The sky here can be incomparable. What is incomparable to you? Your sky, trees, the gardens, a comfortable chair? In romance novels, especially ones loosely based on history, a woman may be nicknamed “The Incomparable” for her beauty. Tell us what you find incomparable! Link […]
